  In Care Rates

In Care Rates for a given year are computed by dividing the Point In Time count of children in child welfare supervised foster care by the child population and then multiplying by 1,000.

Important note: As of Quarter 4, 2012, the population data index has been updated with the California Department of Finance: 2010-2060 - Population Projections by Race/Ethnicity, Detailed Age, and Gender. Please consult the methodology for important details.
