  Disparity Indices

These reports examine the degree to which groups of children have contact with the child welfare system at higher or lower rates than their presence in the general population.

Important note: Important note: As of Quarter 4, 2012, the population data index has been updated with the California Department of Finance: 2010-2060 - Population Projections by Race/Ethnicity, Detailed Age, and Gender. Please consult the methodology for important details.

Please note that the tables posted in previous quarters were unduplicated at the state level. Therefore, some counties experienced a slight undercount, since a child can have events in more than one county in a year, yet only one was selected. The current tables unduplicate separately at both the county and state level. We use a similar method in our "Rates" Section.
Please also note that there are slight discrepancies for a few time periods between frequencies in this report and those in allegation, substantiation, entries, and in-care reports found elsewhere on this site. We are currently investigating the source of these differences.
