    This cogent analysis of the impact of the aging of America on our strained health-care system combines poignant human stories with informed testimony by law makers and public policy experts.     The sweeping changes made in the Medicare Catastrophic Coverage Act of 1988 (MCCA) are described, including changes in coverage of hospital stays, prescription drugs, respite care, physician services and nursing home care. Provides a description of the financing system for the new Medicare benefits and gives a comprehensive overview of the entire Medicare program. Also focuses on the changes in the Medi-Cal program as a result of MCCA, emphasizing what advocates can do assist clients in obtaining the intended benefits of the new provisions.
