Caseload Flow Reports close window This report includes all children in CWS/CMS who were supervised by Child Welfare Agencies. Caseload flow information includes the total number of children entering a first episode in care, the number reentering care for subsequent episodes, and the number exiting care each analysis year. Multiple entries and exits per child were counted where applicable. That is, while a child can have only one "first entry" to care, they can exit and reenter care numerous times in a given year. "Net change" therefore estimates the overall increase or decrease in the child welfare supervised foster care population for each calendar year. No adjustment was made for those children who had an open episode but no open out of home placement for more than six months. Thus the increase or decrease in the foster care population reported in this section may differ slightly from that reported in the point-in-time section of these reports. |
